Misleading Advertising Notice
Dear Exhibitor,
We have been informed that some exhibitors are receiving offers to participate in Trade Fair Directories, such as “Fair Guide” or “Expo Guide”.
Since exhibitors receive this form bearing the name of a trade fair in which they have participated or will participate, we would like to make it clear that FIT (Feria Internacional de Turismo de América Latina), Hotelga, Feria Internacional de Artesanías, and FERIAS ARGENTINAS S.A. have no relationship whatsoever with this company, and that this is a scam intended to get the exhibitor to unknowingly sign a monetary obligation with the company sending the notifications.
Below is the information received from AOCA (Argentine Association of Organizers and Suppliers of Exhibitions and Congresses) regarding the matter and how to proceed:
“Due to the ambiguity of the information contained in the aforementioned form, exhibitors often interpret it as a form sent by their fair organizer solely to correct or update their participation data so that it is correctly reflected in the Guide free of charge.
The problem is that by completing this form, payment of an amount of money in favor of the advertising company is being authorized—an amount that is sufficiently hidden for the exhibiting company to mistakenly interpret it as a free insertion.
UFI and other worldwide associations have already requested that the use of this advertising cease, given the confusion these forms generate for Exhibitors.
Nevertheless, this company continues to operate, and to avoid more complex and undesirable situations, we ask those who receive this type of advertising and subscription form from “Fair Guide” to read all of its content carefully before signing it, and only do so if they are certain they want to contract the service being offered.”
Thank you for your attention. We remain at your disposal for any questions. Kind regards.
Ferias Argentinas S.A.
